England is set to enter a second lockdown on Thursday (5/11) which will result in non-essential retail being forced to close. But what does this mean?
There has been some confusion as to what 'non-essential' retail is, so we have compiled a list with information taken from the latest Government briefing.
The following stores are not deemed essential so therefore will be closing their doors on Wednesday:
Clothing stores
Electronic stores
Vehicle showrooms
Travel agents
Betting shops
Book shops
Homeware shops
Auction houses
Tailors
Car washes
Toy shops
Tobacco and vape shops
Although the above stores will be closed to customers, they will still be able to offer delivery alongside click and collect services.
The Government says that food shops, supermarkets, garden centres and certain other retailers providing essential goods and services can remain open.
Pet shops, opticians, hardware stores, pound shops, and pharmacies are expected to stay open.
