Wetherspoons apply for permission to open new pub in Newport Pagnell

Wetherspoons have submitted a planning application to Milton Keynes Council to open a new pub in Newport Pagnell.

The pub would be located on St John Street, in the unit formally occupied by the 'Robinson's' restaurant, opposite Newport Pagnell Library.

Changes proposed include a change of use from Restaurant/Wine Bar (A3/A4 use) to Public House/Restaurant (A3/A4 use) as well as a number of external changes to the listed building.

Wetherspoons previously applied for planning permission in May 2016, but had their subsequent appeals dismissed earlier this year.

The planning permission was previously rejected on the grounds of 'heritage', but Wetherspoons now say they have 'engaged with their architects and heritage advisors to prepare proposals which respond to the Inspector’s comments as well as those raised by the Council’s officers'.

The pub chain has proposed opening hours of 7am to 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday and 7am to 1.30am Thursday to Saturday.

A decision will be taken by Milton Keynes Council in due course.
