Warning as pickpockets target eagle-eyed dog walker in Milton Keynes

A resident informed police yesterday (25/7) that she was targetted by two females with young children.

Yesterday, The North Neighbourhood Policing Team received information from a local resident that she was walking her dog in the Stantonbury area at around 2pm, when she was approached by two adult females with two young children.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said that one of the females, and the two children, approached the residents dog and started making a fuss of it, while the other female attempted to rifle through the residents handbag.

Thankfully, the eagle-eyed resident was able to spot what was happening and challenged the females before they managed to take anything.

The spokesperson wrote: 'Pickpockets often work together to distract their victims, and they are so light handed and quick that victims often don't realise what happened until much later.

'We have not received any other similar reports to this, but we feel it is certainly something to be aware of.

'Please be cautious when out and about, and be mindful of strangers who may be trying to distract you. Wherever you might keep any valuables you carry, make sure they're zipped up to make it less of an opportunity.

'If you have any information that may assist us in identifying who these people were, please call 101 and quote incident number 43220329218.'
