Dog walkers restricted to four dogs per person when out in Newport Pagnell park

Dog owners have noticed a new sign at a popular park in Newport Pagnell, limiting the amount of dogs that can be walked at a time.

Newport Pagnell Town Council has introduced a rule for dog walkers, limiting them to four dogs per person when walking at Bury Common park in Newport Pagnell.

A sign has been spotted by residents which reads 'Newport Pagnell Town Council only permits the walking of 4 dogs per individual. This includes professional dog walkers on this site. All dogs must be under control at all times.'

Mayor of Newport Pagnell, Paul Day, told MKFM: "Bury Common is a wonderful area of green which we want all local residents to be able to enjoy.  Following concerns raised by members of the public about individuals walking significant numbers of dogs, we have limited use to "up to 4 dogs" at a time per person which we think is reasonable.

"Whatever number of dogs an individual has with them, they need to ensure that they are under control and obviously with multiple dogs it is harder to keep an eye of every one at every moment.

"We ask all users of the Common to please follow the rules to enable others to also fully enjoy the beautiful countryside space which connects to our High Street."

According to the RSPCA, it is recommended that no more than four dogs are walked at any one time but rules can vary due to local authority requirements.
