Volunteers will drive residents on their essential trips across Milton Keynes

A local volunteer-led driver's service will drive residents to and from their essential trips during lockdown.

Volunteering Matters Milton Keynes is funded by Milton Keynes Council, and provides a community car service for those who are elderly or in need of assistance.

Fully-trained and DBS-checked volunteers will take residents on trips ranging from vaccination appointments to collecting a prescription.

Milton Keynes Council says the service is open to older people, those with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments, to name a few.

The service aims to "help people in maintaining their health, independence and reducing social isolation".

It is continuing to offer essential services despite lockdown.

Anyone who needs assistance and would like to use the community car service can call 01908 670309 or email miltonkeynes@volunteeringmatters.org.uk.
