Volunteers wanted for the eleventh MK Marathon!

Want to do your bit? Sign up today to get involved!

The 2022 MK Marathon Weekend is fast approaching and organisers are looking for volunteers to help ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

From ‘mile marshals’ on the course route, to stadium volunteers at the start and finish areas, and people handing out medals, the MK Marathon Weekend on 1-2nd May needs you!

Volunteers are promised a fun and rewarding experience, while giving something back to running and to our much-loved Milton Keynes on the early May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Every volunteer will receive a Platinum Jubilee inspired quality technical t-shirt, a volunteer badge – and a free Subway lunch on race day.

The event requires nearly 700 volunteers, including 50 for the flat and fast Rocket 5K race.

The volunteers are supported by professional race managers and course directors who help to ensure that nothing goes wrong. Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes, from individuals, businesses, and charities, to community groups, running clubs, sports clubs and groups of friends.

Businesses are invited to man a mile close to their premises. With the race route passing through, around or close to Bletchley, Mount Farm, central Milton Keynes, Woughton, Woolstone, Willen, Tongwell, Great Linford, Stantonbury, Stacey Bushes, Loughton and Knowlhill, there are plenty of opportunities for local businesses to lend a hand.

The ten water stops are largely being manned by charity volunteers, with one being looked after by local independent gym FIERCE, which approached organisers to see how it could help. Local running clubs are also being invited to offer their support, with organisers saying they are known to offer the “perfect volunteers”!

Race Director and Founder Andy Hully  - who has himself volunteered at other marathons so he knows what he is asking of his own volunteers – said: “We always like it when running clubs put forward volunteers too – they are the perfect volunteers really, as they know how to support the runners because they know just what it’s like to be taking part in the race!

"We look after all our volunteers well as the event couldn’t take place without them. They do a brilliant job, put in so much effort, give so much support and make it all possible. We give them their briefing, t-shirt, badge and a free Subway lunch! They always enjoy it; it’s fun and rewarding – especially if you do it in a big group with your colleagues or friends.”
