VolkerFitzpatrick set to build new railway station in Milton Keynes

    Construction company VolkerFitzpatrick have been contracted to build the new Bletchley High Level station as part of the latest development in the East West Rail project.

    VolkerFitzpatrick are one of the leading engineering and construction companies in the UK that provide specialist building, civil engineering and rail services.

    They have recently been contracted to build Bletchley High Level station in preparation for the delivery of much-needed transport connections for communities between Oxford and Cambridge.

    Speaking about the project, John Cox (VolkerFitzpatrick Managing Director) said: "Our team is immensely proud to be undertaking these key upgrades, which will allow the station to be part of the new East West Rail line."

    "Throughout the project, our teams aim to work with local companies as much as possible, and we have already presented at an Alliance Supply Chain Engagement event to start creating relationships with local businesses and our procurement team.

    The work to upgrade the station will run through to spring 2022, being constructed a safe distance away from the operational railway to ensure minimal disruption to train passengers.

    Bletchley High Level Station will eventually be at the centre of the first direct rail service to connect communities between Oxford, Bedford and Cambridge in more than 50 years.

    The project will bring people closer to the things that matter most including jobs, new homes and family; providing reliable, quick, environmentally sustainable journeys and more affordable travel.
