Planters tipped over and emptied by pair.
A batch of colourful planters, introduced to brighten up Milton Keynes city centre, have been vandalised less than a month after they were installed.
Fifty of the large pots were funded by local businesses through the My-MK Business Improvement District (BID) as part of its ongoing drive to improve the look and feel of the centre.
They were sited along Midsummer Boulevard, stretching from the Central Station to the shopping centre.
The planters have been looked after on a regular basis since being put in place in June. But devastated team workers today discovered 10 of them upturned and destroyed. It’s believed a pair of individuals were responsible.
In an online post Jill Farnsworth, CEO, My-MK said: ‘Today the MyMiltonKeynes team are feeling fairly broken hearted to see 10 of our planters completely destroyed.
‘Our landscapers planted them less than a month ago and have been lovingly maintaining them ever since. Two people ruined it for everyone. It’s not ok!’
“We’re absolutely gutted to see our beautiful planters destroyed in this way,” Jill told MKFM. “We are trying to save the plants, but we won’t know for a few days if they will be ok. I really hope the individuals who did this get caught and convicted.”
