Urgent appeal issued by Headway Milton Keynes to find new room for hire

Headway Milton Keynes, the charity which supports adults living with brain injury, has issued a desperate appeal to find somewhere suitable to safely run its weekly rehabilitation and support groups, which are held on a Tuesday.

For the last year, the charity has hired space from another local charity.

But earlier this week, they were given just two weeks’ notice that the cost of the room hire will increase by 400% in January, along with the removal of its charity discount.

“'Unfortunately, as a small charity, this sudden increase is completely unaffordable,” a spokesperson said, “Our own unit in the centre:mk is too small to safely run these groups, meaning that without an alternative venue, 30+ vulnerable adults will lose essential support within the next month."

Headway Milton Keynes would love to hear from anyone in the Milton Keynes community who could offer a suitable room or hall on Tuesdays, between 9am and 4pm at an affordable community or charity rate.

“If any organisation, business, community space, or individual can assist—either by offering space or contributing financially—we would be incredibly grateful,” the spokesperson added.

The sessions offered by the charity are essential for 30+ brain injury survivors who rely on them for social connection, cognitive rehabilitation, and emotional wellbeing; essential brain injury rehabilitation that the NHS is unable to offer.
