UK-based charity makes Britain a force for good in the world, says Milton Keynes MP

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has praised the fantastic work of local charity World Vision UK in a meeting with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.

World Vision work globally to help vulnerable children living in poverty and the local MP has been keen to work closely with them and the Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet since his election in December.

Ben met with the Foreign Secretary this morning (18/06) in Westminster following the announcement of the merger between foreign aid department DfID and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Ben highlighted the important work World Vision does in health, nutrition, education and child protection programmes.

He raised concerns from the development sector about maintaining the UK’s high standards accountability and transparency in aid funding.

He said: “I’ve been working closely with World Vision and the Milton Keynes Youth Cabinet on the importance of the UK in providing aid to vulnerable children around the world."

“It’s been fascinating to learn about their most innovative and lifesaving programmes, including a climate change programme in Uganda which are supported by UK Aid."

“And I was pleased the Foreign Secretary confirmed will continue to maintain the aid programme following the merger of the Foreign Office and Department of International Development and that UK aid will continue to be transparent and accountable”
