Two week litter picking campaign launches across Milton Keynes

After a busy summer, the team behind local action group Love MK Hate Litter have today announced a two week litter picking campaign across Milton Keynes with the goal of hitting 250 bags of litter.

September sees Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean Challenge take place across the UK, which replaces their annual Spring Clean activities which were delayed due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

Now, as volunteers around the country take on the fight against litter, the Love MK Hate Litter gang are hitting the city’s streets and boulevards again - weeks after their seven day litter challenge which was taken up by dozens of local residents.

Laura Chapman, Love MK Hate Litter founder and local McDonald’s marketing manager, said “Since lockdown restrictions eased earlier in the summer, we have seen a huge increase in litter around our city. In July, dozens of local residents joined us in the war on litter in Milton Keynes, taking part in the seven day Love MK Hate Litter challenge, with well over 100 bags collected in total. Now, we hope the community will come together to fill more bags than ever before!”

Residents can also be in with a chance of winning their own sets of litter picking equipment for the family if they log their litter picks on social media using the hashtag #LoveMKHateLitter, and can join the Love MK Hate Litter Facebook group to find out more.
