Tokyo Olympics to be shown at free outdoor cinema in Milton Keynes

The Toyko Olympics will be screened at a free outdoor cinema in Central Milton Keynes later on this month.

MyMiltonKeynes has today (19/7) confirmed that MyCinema is returning, but it will be looking slightly different this year.

Rather than showing movie blockbusters, MyCinema will be screening the Olympics in the Fred Roche Gardens from 23rd July to 8th August.

The organisation, which is responsible for the Business Improvement District, has said they will not be showing films in order to support local cinema and leisure attractions that have not long reopened.

Melanie Beck MBE, Chief Executive of MyMiltonKeynes explains: “We know that many of you were eagerly awaiting an announcement about this summer’s MyCinema screenings and we apologise for any disappointment.

"However, not only as a Business Improvement District, but also as a member of the Milton Keynes community, now more than ever, we must support the fantastic leisure facilities that we are so lucky to have here in Central Milton Keynes.

“No booking is required for our MyCinema at the Olympics screenings in the Fred Roche Gardens, simply turn up and enjoy. We look forward to seeing you there!”
