Thousands gather to celebrate Eid at Milton Keynes festival

Over 2,000 residents attended a successful Eid Festival in Milton Keynes last weekend, despite the hot weather.

Organised by the local Events & Arts Society, and supported the Islamic Relief charity, thousands of people gathered at Milton Keynes Rugby Club on Emerson Valley to the second of the two major Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims each year.

A range of activities were on offer as well as entertainment, live music and food. Residents were able to enjoy cuisine such as sugarcane, mango yogurt and pani puri.

The festival was also an opportunity for small businesses to display their work, with community stalls selling everything from clothing to jewellery.

There was also something for the kids, with fairground rides, bungee trampoline and more.

Councillors, a local MP and former mayor were all in attendance, with performances from Singer Siddique and Temoor Alam keeping festival-goers entertained.

Keep an eye on the event's Facebook page for future events.
