This area of Milton Keynes has the highest coronavirus infection rate in the whole of Buckinghamshire

Different areas of Milton Keynes are currently seeing variations in the rolling case rate, also known as the infection rate.

The UK's average infection rate when looking at a seven-day period is currently 149.7 cases per 100,000 people. After spending weeks above the national average, the Borough of Milton Keynes has now fallen well below it - standing at 134.7, according to yesterday's data.

Most areas across the city have seen a decline in positive cases when compared to the previous week.

But Linford Wood has actually seen a 34.8% increase in cases in the seven days up to 10th February. 31 new cases were recorded in just one week.

This spike of over a third means that Linford Wood has the highest infection rate in the city, and the whole of Buckinghamshire. The infection rate is far higher than the national average, currently sitting at 481.2.

Although it is high, the figure is a large decrease from the rate of 667.5 in the week leading to 20th January, and an even bigger drop compared to 1,009 in the week leading to 30th December.

When looking at other areas of Milton Keynes, infection rates tend to average out at around 100.

But there are two areas that have the lowest infection rates in the city - these are Great Linford & Giffard Park, and Newport Pagnell South.

These two parts of Milton Keynes have an infection rate of just 39.8 (Newport Pagnell South) and 45.7 (Great Linford & Giffard Park).
