Tea parties and events are being held in and around Milton Keynes to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS and raise funds for Milton Keynes Hospital Charity.
Supporters of the charity are holding their own ’NHS Big 7Tea’ events to mark the occasion on Thursday, July 5.
Revolution MK in the Xscape is holding a tea party from 12pm-4pm. For just a £5 donation people can have unlimited tea and coffee and enjoy the entertainment.
Companies such as Green Star Energy, CityFibre (pictured), Xero, HSBC, Barclays, ECG Training and ID Medical are hosting tea parties, baking competitions and dress down days to celebrate the milestone birthday and raise funds for the charity too.
This is in addition to the celebrations and tea parties taking place at the hospital itself.
Head of fundraising Vanessa Holmes said: “The NHS is something that all of us come into contact with at some point in our lives, and this is an opportunity to show our appreciation of the amazing work that happens every single day.
“So please join us in saying thank you and help raise money for future generations in and around Milton Keynes.”
There is still time to organise your own NHS Big 7Tea party – by holding a gathering at home with friends and family and ask for a donation in return for a refreshing brew or taking over the staff kitchen for a tea and cake sale.
You can also raise a cuppa to the charity on social media –send us your selfies of support with your favourite mugs or cups! Just tag @mkhcharity with the hashtag #NHS70
All money raised through local fundraising will go towards the £2.5 million Milton Keynes Hospital Charity Cancer Centre Appeal. People can find out more by visiting the website.
