Theme-park goers in Milton Keynes donate tonnes of food to local food bank

Theme park goers have enjoyed a day out at Gulliver’s Land whilst donating tonnes of food for a local foodbank.

Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes hosted a Foodbank Weekend in aid of The MK Food Bank, offering cheaper theme park tickets when customers brought along one non-perishable food item per person, to donate.

And the weekend, which marked the 10th anniversary of the theme park resort hosting days to help foodbanks in the local community, did not disappoint.

Louisa Hobbs, operations manager at Milton Keynes Food Bank, said: “The Gulliver’s Food Bank weekends are an absolute lifeline for us, particularly this year when demand for our services has risen so steeply. The on-going cost of living crisis has affected more and more families in Milton Keynes and this last winter was especially tough. Thankfully the community has stepped up to support, and we are so grateful to Gulliver’s customers and teams for their generosity.

Sue Conway, resort director, at Gulliver’s Land, said: “We know how tough it is for lots of people at the moment so the work of the foodbanks across the UK is more important than ever.

“For ten years Gulliver’s has supported our local foodbank by holding these weekends and we are always blown away by our customers generosity and this time was no exception. I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who contributed as they have really made a positive difference to the lives of people who need some extra support at the moment.”
