The work commute across Milton Keynes is 'a misery,' say some workers

The journey to and from work across areas of Milton Keynes is being made 'a misery,' - that's according to some commuters who use the Portway and Redmoor traffic lights on their travels.

One worker who contacted MKFM told us: "Since Christmas they are only letting a couple of cars through each time the lights change, which is causing major tailbacks - I am struggling at the Bletchley roundabout every day when I leave work."

Another said: "Despite leaving home at the usual time, and leaving with plenty of time, I have arrived at the station too late to make my train to work for three consecutive weeks now. It's just not acceptable - I've never had this problem before."

In a statement to MKFM, Milton Keynes City Council said there are no issues with the Portway lights, but said it knows of a problem with Redmoor.

"There is an issue with one of the signal sets that we are aware of and the replacement part is already ordered," said a spokesperson.

"We expect this part plus the repair to be carried out in mid-February to fix this traffic signal and apologise for the time it has taken to get this fixed.

"Traffic signal parts can have long lead times from the manufacturer so we cannot always fix something straight away but if we thought there was a safety risk to the public, we would turn off all the traffic signals.
