The iconic Milton Keynes television adverts - how many haven't you seen before?

Being a brand new city, what better way is there to encourage people to come and visit than by advertising on television?

Over the last 50 years, Milton Keynes has had so many television adverts - and we're sure there will be some you won't have seen before!

At the top of this page is the 1982 television advert which explains all about the lifestyle of the city and ends with the famous slogan - 'Wouldn't it be great if all cities were like Milton Keynes?'.

We couldn't talk about television adverts for our city without mentioning the iconic red balloon advert:

But you might not have seen the fantastic follow-up advert to the Red Balloon campaign, released in around 1990.

The advert features a young boy describing all the 'traditional' city things - crashes, blocks, cranes - before moving to Milton Keynes and seeing the flowers, horses and bikes.

And finally, if you're up for a sing-a-long - how about this advert for Central Milton Keynes?

The advert explains all about how you can shop 'away from the traffic and under the trees' and 'the parking is free' (hmm).

And you may remember that earlier this year, local film company West FourStreet re-made the red balloon advert, featuring MKFM's very own Lia Christodoulou. Check it out here:
