Thames Valley Police asks Milton Keynes bar and door staff to be aware of 'Ask For Angela' initiative

Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes have asked city bar and door staff to be aware of the 'Ask for Angela' initiative which aims to help women who find themselves in difficult situations in public locations.

It encourages people to discreetly ask for help by going to the bar and 'Ask for Angela' - a phrase aimed at alerting bar staff to the cry for help so they can help defuse the situation.

Staff will attempt to help the person by either calling a taxi or discreetly assisting them out of the location.

Although the scheme has not been officially launched in Milton Keynes, staff are being asked to remain aware of it due to the national attention the campaign has received.
