Team from Riding Against Cancer cycling 1400km from Milton Keynes to Aberdeenshire

From August 17, the team from Riding Against Cancer will spend six days cycling a lengthy 1400km from Milton Keynes to Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

From Saturday, August 17 to Friday August 23, the team from Riding Against Cancer will be cycling a whopping 1400km from Milton Keynes all the way to Ellon, Aberdeenshire in hopes to raise awareness and an extra £10,000 plus for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of loved ones sadly lost to cancer.

Riding Against Cancer first ran in 2022 with a 600km cycling challenge across Scotland raising £10,000. Sponsored by Brewdog, this event saw the four riders visit all the Scottish Brewdog bars.

The riding team led by organiser Russell Lord, alongside Matt Stone, Rob Morgan and Ian Morgan are supported by van driver Michael Floyd and event manager Laura Stone.

As of August 1, they’ve already raised £8,000 with the help of the cycling and craft beer communities. Many of the donations have been sent with support for the cause and proof that nearly everyone has been impacted by the devastating effects of cancer.

The route sees the team leave Milton Keynes early on Saturday August 17, stopping at various Brewdog bars up the country before a celebration event at Brewdog Dog Tap in Ellon Aberdeenshire at 5pm on Friday August 23. Details about the route can be found in the table below and on the website. www.ridingagainstcancer.co.uk/About-the-ride/.

Each Brewdog bar has been given a promotional pack including: - Custom designed and jersey shaped beer mats donated by Mosaic Board Print - a specially created hoppy pale beer by Milton Keynes brewer Grid Project Brewing, posters, badges, stickers and custom questions for their weekly quiz night. Each of the evening bar stops will also allow supporters to meet the team and share a drink. You can follow along via Instagram @ridingagainstcancer.

Organiser Russell Lord said, “I’ve created Riding Against Cancer in memory of my lovely Mum (Ann) who we lost to oesophageal cancer. Everyone in the team has been impacted by cancer in some way and I’ve experienced firsthand the amazing work Macmillan carry out for cancer patients and their families. Please help us to help Macmillan help others.”

Riding Against Cancer are also rewarding its supporters with the chance to win one of 60 prizes in the raffle. Donation of £5 generates a raffle ticket should the support leave their details via JustGiving. A list of the prizes can be found at @ridingagainstcancer on

Sponsors Brewdog and Balance will also be joining the team with guest riders at various stages long the way. The first and last legs of the challenge will see Brewdog’s CEO James Arrow cycling alongside the team.

James Arrow said, “It’s an honour to have been asked to join Riding Against Cancer on their fundraising challenge to cycle 1,400km in their efforts to raise money for Macmillan Cancer. A charity close to my heart. As a keen cyclist myself, it was a no-brainer to join them and I hope, as a team, we can raise awareness for this great cause and smash the £10,000 goal."
