Taylor Wimpey supports Milton Keynes Food Bank with large donation

Taylor Wimpey South Midlands has helped MK Food Bank continue its vital support to the local community with a large food donation.

As part of the housebuilder's ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, Taylor Wimpey South Midlands staff have collected food throughout December for the local food bank, which aims to relieve some worry for some people in Milton Keynes by providing emergency food supplies to those most in need.

The housebuilder has a longstanding relationship with the foodbank, having donated regularly for many years, with a permanent donation box now established in their Milton Keynes based office.

Established in 2004, MK Food Bank originated at MK Christian Centre in Oldbrook as a direct response to growing food poverty in the area. Now supporting more than 5,000 families a year, it operates from a distribution centre in Kiln Farm and distributes from 12 serving centres across Milton Keynes.

Louisa Hobbs, Operations Manager at MK Food Bank, said: “We are thrilled to receive a food donation from Taylor Wimpey. Now more than ever before, we rely on donations like this from businesses in the local community in order to help those who need it most.

“Sadly, with the cost of living and the rise of food poverty, our support is needed more greatly now than when we started in 2004 but we are grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this donation and know it will help to provide supplies for residents of Milton Keynes this Christmas.”

Hayden Dolby, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, said: “It’s really important for us to make positive contributions to the communities in which we build and Milton Keynes food bank is an extremely important cause helping vulnerable people day in and day out. The work that food banks do both within Milton Keynes and across the country is invaluable to those in need and we’re more than happy to show our support.”
