Tap to Donate machines are given a striking new refresh in Milton Keynes

    MyMiltonKeynes BID has revealed a major refresh of its Tap to Donate machines, giving them a striking new look designed to catch the eye and inspire even more generosity across Milton Keynes City Centre.

    Part of the ongoing Real Change Not Loose Change campaign, the machines encourage residents, workers and visitors to donate £3 with a single tap of their credit or debit card, or through the wallets on their mobile devices.

    Since their introduction in 2019, the Tap to Donate machines have raised an impressive £29,586, money that directly supporting projects providing emergency help, long-term support and vital prevention services for people facing homelessness.

    “This is a project I’ve been really looking forward to completing, as six years on the machines were definitely in need of a refresh!" said Jill Farnsworth, CEO of MyMiltonKeynes, "We’ve raised thousands of pounds for homelessness prevention services across Milton Keynes over that time, and we hope the eye-catching new designs will encourage even more people to tap and give.”

    The Tap to Donate machines are located at  Milton Keynes Train Station, Marks & Spencer (Food Department door), Midsummer Place (near Popeyes), Midsummer Place (beside Wingstop and Zara), Leonardo Hotel window centre:mk (outside H Beauty on Midsummer Arcade) and at Xscape (outside Slim Chickens).

    Each machine donates directly into a dedicated fund managed by the Milton Keynes Community Foundation, ensuring every pound goes straight to charities and not-for-profit organisations delivering life-changing homelessness support.

    Most recently, a grant enabled UnityMK to continue its vital work, supporting people facing homelessness and experiencing rough sleeping in Milton Keynes. Offering anyone in crisis the physical, mental and emotional support needed to break the cycle and begin to thrive. The charity is currently seeing 10 new people a week who are facing homelessness and need urgent help.

    “With one in 113 people locally now classed as homeless, the demand for UnityMK’s services continues to rise," said Emma Johnson, CEO of UnityMK.
