Swan is rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in Milton Keynes canal overflow

A swan was rescued by fire crews after getting stuck in part of the flooded canal in Milton Keynes.

There is currently a flood warning in place covering parts of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

This is due to rising water levels caused by heavy rainfall.

The Government's flood warning covers the upper area of the River Great Ouse, but flooding is expected in other parts of the city.

As a result, firefighters were called to the Grand Union Canal in Oakridge Park yesterday morning (3/2) to rescue a stranded swan.

The animal had found itself caught up in the canal's overflow and managed to get stuck.

It appeared to be quite the ordeal, as three fire appliances and crews attended the scene.

Firefighters managed to release the swan, which was luckily uninjured, and they informed the RSPCA.
