Struggling Milton Keynes businesses urged to sign up for financial support before upcoming deadline

    Businesses that have been significantly impacted by the pandemic are being reminded that the deadline for current support grant applications is this wednesday (31/3).

    Since the pandemic began, Milton Keynes Council has paid nearly 15,000 grants totalling £77m to help Milton Keynes businesses.

    Businesses yet to apply for financial support and advice should do so immediately before wednesdays deadline by visiting the website for links to the application pages.

    Applications for new funding schemes called ‘restart grants’ can be made from 1 April.

    The Restart Grant scheme is set to support businesses in the non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure, personal care and accommodation sectors with a one-off grant, to reopen safely as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

    The government has outlined that businesses in the non-essential retail sector may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of up to £6,000 from MK Council, whereas businesses in the hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym sectors may be entitled to a one-off cash grant of up to £18,000 from MK Council.

    Your business may be eligible if it is:

    • Rate-paying
    • In the non-essential retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care or gym sectors
    • Trading on 1 April 2021

    his scheme is covered by 3 subsidy allowances:

    • Small Amounts of Financial Assistance Allowance 
    • COVID-19 Business Grant Allowance – 
    • COVID-19 Business Grant Special Allowance
