Stepping Stones charity night supports Willen Hospice

MK based over 40s Social Club, Stepping Stones has raised £1,000 for Willen Hospice.

The group, who meet at Abbey Hill every other Tuesday, presented the charity with a cheque this week following their annual fundraiser.

Verna Moorton from the club said: “We all know that Willen Hospice is a fantastic organisation – over the years so many people have received the best care and help at a time in their lives when they really need it. That is why we chose them to benefit from our fundraising this year.”

The group raised the fantastic amount by holding a social evening which included live music from local band, Backbeat Sixties, and a raffle that took more than hour to draw due to the number of prizes on offer.

Verna continued: “What a great evening we had.  We’re so grateful to the band who played for free. They were so good that nearly everyone was dancing!  Thanks also to everyone from Stepping Stones who donated fabulous raffle prizes.”

Community Fundraiser, Carolyn Green, says, “We are thrilled to receive this cheque from Stepping Stones. As a Hospice we rely heavily on the support of our community. We need to raise £9 every minute of the day, that’s £4.7 million each year, to be able to continue to offer specialist care to local patients and their families. We just couldn’t do it without the support of groups like Stepping Stones.”
