Stephen Healy departs MK Dons Women for role in higher division

Stephen Healy has left his role as Head Coach with Milton Keynes Dons Women.

Stephen had been with the club since last June, coming here from WSL side West ham United, and he made a positive impact in the short time he was in charge.

Writing on the official website, the club said: 'The Dons suffered relegation to the FA Women's National League Division One South East last season, with their main goal for 25/26 to solidify their position in the fourth tier and look to build foundations for the future.

'Those foundations have already been established, with the girls putting in excellent performances in recent weeks under Stephen, securing three wins and going five games unbeaten.'

As the team launches its search for a new coach, MK Dons CEO Neil Hart said: "We are extremely thankful for Stephen's time with us at MK Dons.

"He has worked tirelessly for the Women's Team, and that has shown massively in their performances throughout the season so far.

"For the team to be undefeated for five games in a row is a stark improvement on last season, and we would like to thank Stephen for his efforts. The opportunity presented to him to manage at a higher level is ultimately a reflection on his fantastic work with MK Dons Women this season.

"All of us at the Stadium MK Group wish him the best for the future."

Healy is set to take up a new opportunity as Head Coach at a club in a higher division.

Reflecting on his time with the club, Stephen said: "The team has seen such massive growth in such a short space of time, and it’s only on an upwards trajectory, so I’m really excited for the football club and where it’s going. I know that it will be in good hands moving forward.

“I’m leaving with a heavy heart, because I’ve made some wonderful connections here, and will miss them all greatly.

“Sometimes life throws you a curveball, and you have to do what is right for your family, so I’ll be supporting and cheering the team on from afar."
