Stantonbury School to remain closed for Year 8 and 9 but re-open for other students tomorrow

Stantonbury International School have announced that they will remain closed for Year 8 and 9 students, with other students returning to school tomorrow.

The school was closed to all students on Friday due to self-isolation of a staff member but no confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in the school community.

In a letter to parents today, the school said: "Thank you for your support with our school closure on Friday. You will appreciate that advice from the authorities is constantly evolving as the situation regarding the virus changes on a daily basis."

"We are closely monitoring the absence of staff who need to self isolate and have therefore decided that school will be open next week to years 7, 10, 11, 12 and 13 and closed to years 8 and 9."

"As explained last week, in the event of a partial closure, we will prioritise exam groups and then bring in other year groups on a rotation basis so that all students receive some teaching."

"In the event of a closure we will keep our website updated with ongoing information, messages, home learning links and exam board messages. Lesson packs can now be accessed online (please see links to student learning packs) with hard copies available if required."

"The advice regarding public examinations remains that students should continue to prepare as normal."

"Should students be unable to attend school for any reason, particularly if there is a link to potential coronavirus, families should communicate the specific reason when reporting the absence."

"The latest government advice is to stay at home for seven days if an individual has a high temperature and/or a new, continuous cough."

"In the event of a kitchen closure, we will ask you to send your child to school with a packed lunch to allow us to prioritise free lunches."

"We will suspend parents’ evenings until further notice. We also ask parents to not come unannounced to school; all meetings will be conducted over the phone."

"Unfortunately trips abroad and UK residentials will be cancelled. We will risk assess local trips on a case by case basis. We are pleased that the medical advice so far is that our school production of Grease will go ahead this week as it is classed as minimal risk."

"As always the safety of our whole school community is our greatest priority and we will continue to monitor all guidance available and keep you updated as often as necessary."

"Thank you for your continuing support and understanding."
