Special needs school in Milton Keynes closes for deep clean after positive coronavirus case

The Walnuts School (Hazeley Campus) has now closed for a deep clean due to a positive coronavirus case.

Parents were informed on Wednesday (7/10) that there had been a confirmed case of coronavirus within the school. The school stated that the "small number" of children who had been in contact with the affected person "will have received a letter" advising them to self-isolate.

The email sent that day said that the school would remain open and that they were actively monitoring the situation alongside Milton Keynes Council and Public Health England.

Pupils then arrived at school the following day, Thursday (8/10), with some using council-owned transport to immediately be sent home to allow for the school to have a deep clean.

And it has now been confirmed that the school will be closed until Monday (12/10).

Students in self-isolation will remain off school until 15th October.

One parent contacted MKFM claiming that the email telling children to self-isolate was sent to "the majority of children at the school" and has since questioned the bubble system.

MKFM has contacted Milton Keynes Council for comment.
