Two properties ‘100 per cent’ damaged.
Six firefighting crews were called to a major blaze in Newport Pagnell yesterday in which a blaze took hold of a three-storey block of flats.
The crews, from Newport Pagnell, Buckingham, Aylesbury, West Ashland, Mereway and Dunstable fire stations attended, along with four officers.
The fire affected three flats within a three-storey block of around 1200 square metres on the town’s Tickford Street.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, an aerial appliance and thermal imaging cameras to bring the blaze under control.
Two adults suffered the effects of breathing in smoke, and one adult received minor burns to their hand and was given into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
“Two of the flats were 100 per cent damaged by smoke, water and fire,” said a Buckinghamshire fire service spokesperson. “The third flat had smoke damage and fire damage to the loft.”
Firefighters carried out re-inspections of the scene overnight and were joined by Thames Valley Police who also attended and remained on scene.
