Section 60 order extended in Milton Keynes until tomorrow morning

Police say they have decided to extend the order which grants them greater powers of stop and search until tomorrow morning.

A section 60 order was put in place across centre MK and Conniburrow following two incidents involving weapons yesterday (Thursday 4th May).

Police say no one was injured during the incidents.

A section 60 order means officers can stop and search anyone within the area shown for items connected with violence. The order, which was originally put in place until 5pm today (Friday 5 May), has been extended until 10am tomorrow (Saturday 6 May), following a review from senior officers.

“You will see more police officers in the area whilst the order is in place and we expect to carry out more stop and searches than usual.” Thames Valley Police say.

“Whilst this may sound alarming, the Section 60 order is simply a measure used to prevent violent incidents.

“Please do not be worried if you are stopped by an officer as this does not mean that you are in trouble and please stop & speak with us about any concerns that you have.”
