Secret Garden in Milton Keynes targeted in cruel act of vandalism

Wolverton's Secret Garden is a place to enjoy a little tranquility, and the pleasant surrounds - which includes a good deal of work created by the community, for the community.

So imagine the disappointment felt by Roger Kitchen, Chair of the Wolverton Secret Garden Society, when he visited the space yesterday and discovered that a mosaic bird bath had been badly damaged by vandals.

"In the more than 20 years since the community acquired, developed and maintained the Secret Garden, the amount of vandalism has been tiny," Roger said, "People who visit it are respectful, and care for it. Until now…"

The community has rallied, with some asking, 'Could it be fixed?'

Possibly, says Roger: "It would take a lot of work, but then where do we put it? We always wanted to introduce more art into the Garden, especially art created by community members. We’ll just have to think more creatively about to make this happen.

"To whoever did it, you might be feeling frustrated and angry in your life, but that anger and frustration has been directed at the wrong target.

When you grow up and reflect on your action will you do so with pride? So sad."
