An MK-based psychic medium and paranormal investigator has a new project in the offing - to find the most haunted pub here in the new city.
Claire Evans, who runs Guided By Light Psychic & Wellbeing Events, is on a mission to discover the pint-pulling ale house with the most creepy coincidences.
“‘I have had a number of ghostly experiences as a child, in particular at The Black Horse, and The Swan in Newport Pagnell.
“I’ve never known a time in my life when I wasn’t into the paranormal.
“The 'gift' runs down the family line on both side of my family and my great aunt opened the first spiritualist church in Glasgow many years ago. I have been living with the dead since I was a baby,” she told MKFM.
“Now I am a paranormal investigator and medium, it feels natural to explore further,” she said, "I have always been fascinated with older buildings, and the fact that MK is seen as such a new city takes away the history that it holds.
“When we investigate a place, we peel back the layers and learn so much of the history and events that happened in years gone by - it's respect and recognition for the life they had.
“As a team we always rule out environmental and human influence factors before assuming it’s a haunting. As a medium, I do not need evidence that spirit exist, so I’m not one to jump on the ‘everything's a ghost' train.
“My team have been trained to do the same.”
Claire - who has more than 20 years experience in this field - and her team will use environmental factors, evidential rating and sensitivity in their assessments.
“I've met author Steph Lay, and together with my team, we will hold a paranormal investigation at the pubs nominated by the public and staff, and will decide from our experience and evidence who will win, and we will present an award to the 'MKs most haunted pub.’
Naturally, the award will be presented on Halloween!
But not everyone believes that we share our space with the departed. What would you say to those people?
“Non-believers are great because they ask questions that make you really think. I always say if you’ve never had an experience then why would you believe, but do have an open mind and perhaps think outside the box.”
For some, the word haunted is enough to bring chills. Should we be scared of what it implies?
“Not at all. everywhere is haunted,” Claire says, “The ground beneath us has so much energy and history.
“Many developments are built on top of old settlements, burial grounds and battle fields. Most of us live with 'ghosts' and don't even realise it!”
