Schoolboy from Milton Keynes donates 12 inches of his hair to young people's cancer charity

Gabriel Rowcroft-James, age 10, went two years without a haircut so he could donate his hair to a young people's cancer charity.

Gabriel had a whopping twelve inches cut off of his hair over the weekend. The hair will go to the Little Princess Trust, where the charity will make a wig for a young person with cancer.

The Milton Keynes schoolboy had been growing his hair since the age of eight, and has also been raising funds for the charity after learning that it costs £500 to make one wig.

He has since raised over £1,000 for the Little Princess Trust and even managed to encourage his mother, Rozi, to cut 16 inches off of her hair too. The mother and son fundraising duo have now raised enough money to make two and a half wigs for the charity.

Gabriel is now adjusting to his shorter hairstyle and says it is "odd" when he wakes up and realises he no longer has long hair. He continued: “But I like it. I’m changing the colour between green and blue at the moment.

“I was slightly nervous before I got it cut, mainly because I was so used to having it long.

“But I can regrow my hair. I’m donating it for people who can’t, or might not ever be able to grow their hair.”
