Roadmap out of lockdown: Several changes come into effect in Milton Keynes today

March 29th marks the next stage of the Government's easing of lockdown restrictions meaning that rules have eased slightly.

The Government's 'stay at home' message has now changed to 'stay local', and outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of up to six people, or two households, are now allowed.

Outdoor sports facilities, such as tennis and basketball courts, and open-air swimming pools, across Milton Keynes are allowed to reopen today.

People will also be allowed to take part in formally-organised outdoor sports, such as football or netball games at Sport Central MK.

Although there are slight changes to travel across Milton Keynes and beyond, people are being advised to minimise the number of journeys they make where possible, avoiding travel at the busiest times and routes.

Travel and holidays abroad will continue to be prohibited, other than for a small number of permitted reasons.

Matt Hancock, Health Secretary, said: "We have come so far thanks to the vaccine rollout and that progress must be protected.

"So let's take this next step safely, when you meet others do so outdoors, and keep a safe distance."
