Road from Milton Keynes to Bedford set to be closed 24/7 for two weeks in August

The A422 road between Milton Keynes and Bedford is set to be closed for two weeks next month.

Milton Keynes Council will be carrying out significant highway improvement works along the A422 between the Chicheley Roundabout and its junction with the A428 at Bromham between 5th August and 18th August.

The closure will be in place 24 hours a day with the road re-opening on the 19th August.

The work will be delivered by Ringway, Milton Keynes Council's Highways Service Provider.

The works will include significant structural and waterproofing to Swans River Bridge, which requires closure across the whole carriageway

In addition, there will be highway resurfacing. Some of this work is being completed on behalf of Bedford Borough Council as the resurfacing will be in their Borough. Bedford Borough Council are therefore funding this part of the works.

There will be a wide range of communications circulated in advance and during the closure to local residents.

Council officials have also organised two drop in information sessions to take place to answer any questions on the works being undertaken, traffic management, the diversion route and to help people plan their journeys during this period.

They will be taking place at Chicheley Village Hall (Opposite Chester Arms pub), Hall Lane, Chicheley, MK16 9JE.

Sessions will be happening on Thursday 25th July between 2pm and 8pm and Saturday 27th July between 10am and 2pm.
