Max Verstappen claimed a dominant victory in Azerbaijan, as Yuki Tsunoda finished P6 for Red Bull's best finish of the season.

Both Red Bull drivers began the race with hard tyres, looking to make their initial stint last as long as possible with a one-stop strategy the aim.

Starting from pole position, Verstappen made a positive jump and maintained his position ahead of the pack. Tsunoda also had a positive start, overtaking Mercedes' George Russell to move briefly into P5 before the British driver took his starting spot back.

The race was put under a safety car before the end of the first lap after McLaren's Oscar Piastri locked up and crashed out of the race. Tsunoda drove past Russell again on the restart as the Mercedes driver went wide around turn one, climbing into P5.

Tsunoda held off Russell until lap 10, where he was finally overtaken with the aid of DRS.

Verstappen built up a comfortable lead through the first 22 laps of the race, sitting 6.7 seconds ahead of Williams' Carlos Sainz in P2, while Tsunoda climbed up to P4 as the first set of pit stops began, with Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson and Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli pitting ahead of the Japanese driver.

By lap 35, Verstappen's lead was over 14 seconds with Mercedes' Russell, in P2, yet to pit, while Tsunoda was over seven seconds behind in P3.

Tsunoda came into the pits first, switching to the medium tyres, and found himself in a battle with Lawson and McLaren's Lando Norris for P5, while Verstappen's stop was comfortable, and he maintained his place ahead of the pack.

Sitting in P6, Tsunoda continued to fight Lawson and hold off Norris and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton as the laps began to dwindle.

He held firm, though, and was able to hold off the Championship contender right to the finish line, coming home in P6 - the best finish of his career with Red Bull and the team's best result across the entire 2025 season as Verstappen claimed his 67th career win in dominant fashion.

The four-time World Champion crossed the line with over 14 seconds between him and Russell in P2.

Speaking after the race, Verstappen commented: "They're all a bit different, but I think this weekend has been incredible for us."

"Last week it was great, but for us to win here again is just fantastic, and I think in the race the car was really well."

He added: "[With] all the compounds, we had clean air all the time, and then you could really look after the tyres. It was pretty straightforward."

"Of course, it's not easy around here, windy today, so the car was always moving around a lot."

He concluded: "But, of course, incredibly happy with this performance."
