Max Verstappen has qualified P2 while Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Pérez missed out on Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Red Bull entered the race week off the back of a disappointing Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which saw reigning World Champion Verstappen finish just P6 while Pérez, who had been battling for a stunning podium finish, ended up in the wall after a bizarre crash with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz.
With McLaren taking the lead in the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull need to pick up some positive results to ensure Verstappen's own Drivers' Championship campaign remains on track.
Things did not go well for Pérez, who has had a mixed year in the RB20, who was unable to reach Q3 after qualifying on the second row in Azerbaijan just a week ago.
The Mexican will start tomorrow's race in P13, where he was sitting before starting his final run in Q2 - unable to improve enough on his time to move into any other position, finishing with a best lap time of 1:30.579.
Speaking after qualifying, Pérez commented: "We tried a lot of things with the car over the weekend. I'm a little bit surprised at what went wrong in Q2 really because in Q1 we had a really good progression."
He added: "If anything, I did a mistake in my lap in Q1 where I lost around three-tenths or I went slower by two or three-tenths in Q2 and it was all about the rear tyres; I couldn't get them in the window, and that's where I struggled."
It will be a tall order for Pérez to pick up points in this race, but Verstappen should have an opportunity to keep himself in the championship fight, having qualified P2 with a time of 1:29.728.
After qualifying, Verstappen commented: "I think the whole of qualifying actually went quite well. We managed to improve the car run after run all the way to FP3."
"I'm happy to be on the front row if you look at where we came from yesterday."
He explained: "Q3 was tough. Your lap gets cancelled with the double yellow, then everyone only has one run to do the lap so you don't want to overdo it, you want to stay within the limits."
He concluded: "I'll take second, I'm happy with that."
