Rare stop and search order for whole of Milton Keynes has ended

A stop and search order that gives police enhanced powers, known as Section 60, has now ended.

It was authorised by Thames Valley Police on Sunday (11/4) and lasted until 15:00 on Monday (12/4).

During that time, police officers could search anybody within the borough of Milton Keynes without needing to suspect that they were carrying a weapon.

The Section 60 order was introduced in response to an incident on Kingsfold in Bradville just after midnight on Sunday, where it was reported that there was a group of offenders armed with weapons, believed to be knives and baseball bats.

A 17-year-old boy was hit to the head leaving him unconscious and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Speaking on Sunday, Inspector Mark Lacey, of Milton Keynes police station, said that the order was put in place "to prevent further violence from happening" and added that the decision to implement the order was not "taken lightly".

Thames Valley Police could have extended the order if they felt it was necessary.

Anybody who has information about the incident that took place on Kingsfold should contact the police on 101 or by making a report online, quoting reference 43210151253.
