Railworks set to affect travellers coming in and out of Milton Keynes Central this Easter

Those who plan on travelling by train this Easter weekend are encouraged to plan journeys well in advance due to upcoming railworks.

Network Rail is planning to carry out over 400 projects, set to cost £113m, between Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The projects will result in disruptions on major routes across the country.

There will also be preparatory work taking place for HS2 alongside track renewal. This is expected to cause a reduced timetable London Euston and Watford Junction, Tring, Milton Keynes, and Northampton.

Andrew Haines, Chief Executive of Network Rail, said: "Thousands of our colleagues will be working around the clock to deliver crucial upgrades to the rail network over Easter.

"While fewer people travel over bank holidays, some of our passengers will have important travel plans. We are asking those passengers to check in advance whether their journey might be impacted by our upgrade works."
