The Queen has appointed the Countess Howe DL as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire to succeed Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher Bt KCVO when he steps down in November.
Elizabeth Howe was High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire 2010/11.
She is embedded in the community life of the county being involved as President or Patron to a number of local charities. She chairs Heart of Bucks, the county Community Foundation, and is Patron of Milton Keynes Islamic Art, Heritage and Culture (MKIAC).
Her professional background is in education which is reflected in her commitment to schools and young people. She was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 1995 and supports the county Honours Committee and Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Elizabeth is a Commander (Sister) of the Order of St John and a member of the County Priory Group having completed her term as President.
Elizabeth Howe is married to The Rt Hon The Earl Howe. They have four grown up children.
