ProLab Football's new indoor football facility kicks off in February, bringing a fresh and inclusive approach to player development in the area.
ProLab has been founded by a trio of passionate fans of the beautiful game who are combining skills to make sure that their goals are realised.
Sessions will be delivered by experienced coaches Gary Thurston (pictured right) and Martin White (left), whose coaching journey spans professional academies, international experience and grassroots football.
Gary and Martin’s coaching relationship began at MK Dons, where Martin first started out as Gary’s apprentice. Later, they ventured to the United States to coach before returning to the UK and following different career paths; Gary went on to become a PE teacher, a role he continues to hold today, while Martin founded his own successful coaching company, Martin White Football Factory.
Six months ago, Gary and business partner Simon approached Martin with the idea of launching ProLab Football. Martin immediately embraced the project, sharing the same vision of creating a high-quality indoor football environment.
For all involved, opening an indoor football unit is a long-held ambition and one they are proud to be turning into reality.
ProLab Football has a strong community focus, with plans already in place for outreach projects such as walking football sessions for over-60s, as well as SEN and home education sessions delivered during the daytime.
While the indoor space may relatively small, it has been designed specifically to maximise player development. The tight playing area encourages quick touches on the ball and decision-making in confined spaces — exactly the type of environment players experience in real match situations.
With its blend of professional experience, inclusive values and community ambition, ProLab Football aims to become a hub for learning, development and enjoyment of the game for players of all ages and abilities.
“The emotional rollercoaster we’ve been on has been crazy," Gary said, "From the grass company pulling out just before Christmas to something as simple as ordering the wrong colour paint, it’s made the whole journey even more personal and exciting for us. It’s really shown how much goes into a project like this and how invested we are in making it work.”
