Preschool evacuated after fire breaks out in Milton Keynes

Children at a preschool in Milton Keynes were forced to evacuate yesterday afternoon (19/6), after a fire broke out nearby.

Pupils at Bletchley Preschool were evacuated at around 1:27pm yesterday (19/6) after a fire broke out.

Manager's Sandra and Jenna, contacted MKFM to praise their pupils, who attend the preschool on George Street, Fenny Stratford, following their 'quick and calm' evacuation.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue had two fire engines and crews from West Ashland attend the scene, along with an officer where they say smoke was issuing from the rear garden of a house when they arrived. A fire was affecting a fence and an outbuilding and fire fighters used two hose reel jets and small gear.

"The fire was right behind our garden area with thick smoke when started. all staff and children managed to evacuate quickly and safely. We would like to acknowledge how quickly and calmly staff managed to safely get all children out and across a busy road," Manager Sandra and Jenna told MKFM.

"The children were so brave. Big hats off to Bletchley preschool children."
