Post Office reminds people of the last dates for posting items for Christmas

This year the Royal Mail has urged people to post as early as they can to cope with the Christmas demand.

This comes as it has been heavily reported that several postal centres across the country have been backlogged, and some residents in the city have received their postage weeks late.

So it is important to get ahead where possible, and post early to avoid the anticipated future rush.

Here are the last recommended posting dates for all services to UK addresses:

    Friday 18/12 - Royal Mail 2nd Class & 2nd Class Signed For

    Monday 21/12 - Royal Mail 1st Class & 1st Class Signed For

    Tuesday 22/12- Parcelforce Worldwide express48, express48large**

Wednesday 23/12  - Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and Parcelforce Worldwide express24, AM, 9 & 10

** express48large is only available in certain Post Office branches. Please contact your local branch for special availability.

Royal Mail say: "If you've still got Christmas gifts and cards to send to friends and family, you may want to find out when your local Post Office tends to be less busy, and pop in then. Don't forget to wear your facemask."
