Police to highlight contributions by LGBT+ officers in Pride month

With the annual event turning to online only this year due to the pandemic, Thames Valley Police are looking to education the public on LGBT+ officers contributions.

The posts will appear daily on the force's Thames Valley LGBT+ Police Network Facebook page.

They will highlight key milestones for the community from Thames Valley, the UK and further afield as a learning experience for everyone.

The LGBT+ Network team believe this month is the perfect time to reflect on the changes within the community.

The team said: “This month we are joining our officers, staff and communities in celebrating LGBT+ History Month, as we reflect on ensuring the Thames Valley is a safe space for LGBT+ people.

“A diverse team is absolutely an important part of our police force being effective and it is essential in maintaining public trust with all of our communities.

“We are extremely proud of the contributions that our LGBT+ officers and staff bring to the force and the communities they work so hard to protect.”

The post can be found on the Thames Valley LGBT+ Network's Facebook page.
