Police have thanked everyone who joined them for the weapons amnesty.

Thames Valley Police held a weapons amnesty at the Safety Centre at Kiln Farm on Saturday 12th March.

The amnesty allowed people to anonymously dispose of dangerous items including illegal weapons and knives.

In total, 55 weapons were anonymously handed in.

Thames Valley Police were joined on the day by Milton Keynes Council, Junior Film Makers, Safety Centre staff and Jason Fathers.

Jason Fathers, a local father, lost his son to knife crime on New Year's Day in 2021. Now, he campaigns to end knife crime and works with local police.

Thames Valley Police say: "A huge thank you as well to staff at the Safety Centre, MK Council, Junior Film Makers and Jason Fathers who helped run the event on the day and enabled really open discussions about how we can all work together to stop knife crime and spot the signs of those at risk of becoming involved.

"And of course, thank you to all of you who helped spread the word that the amnesty was taking place and in turn, helped to remove these weapons from MK."

Weapons can still be handed in anonymously using the bin in the reception of Milton Keynes police station.
