Complaints received about alcohol and drug use.
Four properties in Central Milton Keynes have had Partial Closure Orders issued against them by the city’s police, following complaints from residents about their use.
Officers from MK’s Neighbourhood Policing Team successfully obtained four orders on separate addresses in North Tenth Street, following complaints from neighbours.
“These complaints centred around people visiting the properties and engaging in alcohol and drug-related anti-social behaviour,” said a police spokesperson. “This behaviour has had a significant impact on the wider community, and we’ve taken action.”
Under the Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), Crime and Policing Act 2014, a Closure Order gives police the legal power to restrict access to a property to prevent ongoing nuisance and disorder.
These orders now make it a criminal offence for anyone other than the named residents to be inside the addresses for the next three months. If someone is not the named occupant and they are found inside, they can be arrested.
“We’ve also put safeguarding in place to make sure the residents receive the support and welfare they need moving forward,” said the spokesperson. “This is part of our commitment to protecting our community and supporting vulnerable individuals.”
If you witness any breaches or ongoing ASB, report it to the via 101 or online here.
