Police in Milton Keynes make significant impact in fight against shoplifting

Milton Keynes' retail crime team has been working hard to reduce incidents of shoplifting – and since their implementation in September, they have achieved an impressive 207 charges.

A police spokesman said: 'Whilst some people may think of shoplifting as a victimless crime, shoplifting often involves the use of violence against shop workers.

Having a specific team for retail crime enables the police to better target the prolific offenders and bring them to justice, preventing re-offending.”

The UK economy lost £2.2billion (2023/24) due to shoplifting.
