Officers have offender’s phone – and want to give it back.
Milton Keynes police officers have released a cheeky social media post saying they have been handed a mobile phone and want to reunite it with its owner.
But the Facebook post reveals that the phone belongs to someone who has been stealing alcohol from an Oldbrook newsagent and off licence.
‘Were you in a bit of a hurry earlier and dropped your mobile phone while running away from the tills in Eagle News in Oldbrook, also forgetting to pay?’, says the post.
‘A phone was found and handed in to us, and we’d love to reunite it with its rightful owner. We're hoping you may be able to reunite the store with the alcohol you stole and have been stealing for the past few weeks’.
The post goes on to say that the phone owner should go to Milton Keynes police station ‘with some ID and a description of the lockscreen so we can verify ownership’.
It adds that if the owner turns up, they will also have some questions to answer about items that they ‘left the shop without paying for’.
And it ends: ‘Let’s get your phone back where it belongs!’.
