Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber has awarded an additional £166,937 Ministry of Justice funding to organisations that support victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The Ministry of Justice Critical Support Fund encompasses support for domestic abuse and sexual violence community organisations and provision of Independent Sexual Violence and Domestic Abuse Advisors (ISVA/IDVA).
Matthew Barber, Police and Crime Commissioner said “I am committed to supporting victims of crime across the Thames Valley. I have welcomed the government funding opportunities over the last year to support organisations working with victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence but also know that some organisations continue to struggle following the impact of the pandemic and the subsequent increase in victims requiring support.
“I am pleased this additional funding aims to support those organisations in most need and that I’ve been able to secure funding for four organisations in the Thames Valley; helping them to continue to provide core services for victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence.”
Funding has been awarded to organisations to cover core domestic abuse and sexual violence services, counselling support, and the provision of Children and Young person’s Independent Sexual Violence/Domestic Abuse Advisors (IDVA and ISVA).
The ISVA and IDVA posts will be funded for two years.
All other elements of the funding will be awarded for a one year period.
Milton Keynes Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service is one of the organisations being funded by the commissioner.
In addition to the PCC allocation, Trust House Reading has received £41,794 directly from the Male Rape Support Service fund to support male victims of sexual violence.
