Police break up BBQ close to Milton Keynes after a 'number of people' travelled to attend

Thames Valley Police had to break up a BBQ in Woburn Sands this afternoon after a number of people attended in contravention of government advice on social distancing.

Officers were called to the BBQ and said that on arrival they found a 'number of people had travelled a substantial distance to attend'.

Police say attendees were sent away with 'strong words of advice'.

They added: "Please pay attention to the advice being given by the government and stay inside unless absolutely necessary."

Government advice says that you should only go outside for:

    • shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible
    • one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household
    • any medical need, including to donate blood, avoid or escape risk of injury or harm, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
    • travelling for work purposes, but only where you cannot work from home

You can read more advice on the GOV.UK Coronavirus website.
